Arrived yesterday arvo, flight from Perth was still pretty full, so looks like people aren't too concerned about the coup. Arriving in phuket no extra security at airport, just very slow at immigration......few people going through the visa line. Hubby went and asked if we could...yes for a price! 200baht paid to the guy and we are through in 1 minute, picked up luggage, got a taxi and we are on our way! We arrived at our hotel quick as there didn't seem to be a lot of traffic as in previous times!! Lovely!
Off to jungceylon to pick up some essentials via Bangala rd, it's about 5ish and already Bangala is bustling. Plenty of ping pong touts out and bars are busy. Don't know if this is normal for this time as never been this early.
Early dinner at Molly's tonight.....kind of tradition for first night for us. Bit disappointing as they've changed the menu, no Thai food, yeh I know you don't go to a Irish pub for Thai food but we loved their fried rice!! Oh well! Sitting there people watching....it's very quiet on the street! Off to Bangala rd just after 7 and it's so busy it feels like its a lot later! Black horse is our bar of choice every visit, lovely to see all the same girls are there still!! Wow...crazy night there. Rugby guys dressed up as girls. Men in kilts and even a few warriors with spears.....lol. Great atmosphere on Bangala all night. Ten o'clock was getting closer, but no signs of anyone closing......! About 10.10 along came the police telling everyone to close up. Damm!! Bars stop serving, we settle our bill but there is no rush to get anyone out! On the street there is still plenty of activity going on!! Back on beach rd, markets & restaurants are still open.
So if anyone's worried about whether or not to still come over...don't be life is still pretty much the same here!
Ok.....I'm off for a dip in the pool on this beautiful sunny day!
