exchange rates change daily, no body knows what it will be in march,

beer prices vary, all depends what you drink, and where you drink them

In July pints of Chang were 99 baht in Molly Malones . A lot cheaper if you buy from the 7/11.

Hi Michael, we are in patong now...

Exchange rates are 28.89 AUSSIE dollar today... Compare exchange booths as some are a little cheeky and offer less! Ive found the one on the beach road to be the best price!

Beer prices- depends on what you drinks :) my husband has been drinking Heineken ... It's a more expensive beer.

At 711 stores you can get a four pack of singah beers for next to nothing!!! Hard Rock is expensive to drink.... But Bangla Rd, we found The Monsoon to be fairly priced! (Don't expect to leave there in a healthy walking state :)

Exchange rate of 28.89 is quite abit different from what the CommBank in Aust is currently offering ( 27.18) , Does that indicate , that it is better to take Aussie dollars over and exchange once there ?

Also sorry to hijack the thread but does the rate of the Aussie vs USD$ have any bearing on the Aussie / Thai Baht rate ?

Yeah! Definitely wait until you are here to exchange!

We exchanged $200 before we came to tip if need be... But we brought cash over to avoid the ATM fees! Then you can pick where you can exchange....

Beach road is best! :)

In answer to OP, price of beer will be as others have advised, but be sure that it will be cheaper than where your travelling from. Exchange rates see websites as a guide then check out 2-3 exchange booths when in Phuket & go from there.

To rosslou, last July I exchanged some $AU for $US (as I did a sidetrip to Cambodia) when $US was above parity ie $1.05 ($1.03 from Aust. Post) and received 27.?? baht when in LOS. $US has since dropped to .89 cents but Thai baht is 28.89 as you say, higher than what I got last year. I think this answers your question.
