You can expect loads and loads of rain as this is the height of the rainy season and the rains have come hard and heavy this year. Also you can`t swim on the beaches at this time as there are large waves and rip currents and there have been numerous drownings this wet season already. Having said all that the air temperature will still be warm and you can also make use of the hotel pools. Hotels are incredible value at this time and you can stay in a very luxurious hotel for a pittance. Also you can enjoy all the cheap massage and spa treatments on offer (£5 for an hour or more) bliss, then there are all the great places to eat and shop and trips to do so you won`t be bored. Just don`t expect long sunny days.

Hi again,

Pattaya, Hua Hin or Koh Samui will have much better weather at this time. Check out the forums for these places.

Hey. We just came back from Phuket. Well u get good and bad days. There is plenty of sunshine anyhow. The rain did not really bother us as it is a very warm rain and it doesn't usually last very long.

I would not hazitate to go back to Phuket at any time of the year.

You would find the weather down from Hua Hin to Koh Samui, Tao, Phangan area much better, but, the prices for hotels and resorts overall would be higher as it's a busy time as the weather is much better in that area.

Hi there,

We have been 3 times mid September and have never had a problem with the weather.

Phuket has a tropical climate that is warm the whole year round averaging temperatures of around 29C. There are two distinct seasons with a few minor variations in-between.

Many people visit in the high season (November to March) because of pleasant temperatures, blue skies and low rainfall. As a result the island is quite busy and everything is a little more expensive. Hotels and tours can be quite crowded and the island is not quite so laid back.

During April till mid-May, it begins to heat up to around 34C and there are often heavy thunder-showers in the late afternoons.

This quickly gives way to cooler temperatures and rain showers from late May until November (the monsoon season).

Visiting Phuket in the monsoon season has lots of advantages. Temperatures average a comfortable 29/30C and light warm winds make sightseeing tours very pleasant. During the monsoon season, it doesn't rain every day! The usual weather pattern is for short dramatic showers, with sunshine in between, June, July and August are particularly pleasant.

Try the following sites, they give up to date information on the weather and indicants the chance of rain on a percentage basis.

Also check out the following site with info on seasons and what to expect.

Cheers, Pete.
