Pimalai resort and spa

We are considering a trip to the Pimalai in April 2006. We gather from reviews that there are 2 beach bars within walking distance that serve reasonable food and drink. Can anyone elaborate on this, please, with reference to type of food and typical prices. We always prefer to eat outside hotels as it seems more authentic, not to mention cheaper!

Also, how long to get to nearest town by taxi and typical taxi rate.

What is the town like? ( recommendations welcome re- restaurants, sights, etc.)

There are loads of places to go nearby to eat and drink. Rent a moterbike and go up and down the only 2 roads on Koh Lanta !! you will find loads to do. Ban Saladan is the main centre and it is approx 25-30 mins on a moterbike ! Gonna rain alot in April though !!

I hear that there is a great beach restaurant next to Pimalai called "Same Same but different" - I heard it was destroyed by the Tsunami - does anybody know if it has be rebuilt and reopened ?
