GOV.UK has issued an Email alert to the fact that there have been bombs in Hua Hin but have not issued any advice about not travelling. Unlikely that they will do so.

No different to the preparations you make when you travel to London for a night out. We used to live 25 minutes from the centre of London, and one of our sons just missed out on the 7/7 bombings - right place, right time.

I continually worry about them travelling by tube or bus for work to this very day, but it's a way of life. You must know that.

As for whether Hua Hin is safe or not - it won't put us off returning in February. In the short term, there will now be extra police checks, road blocks and extra security - some of it slightly bizarre!

Go and enjoy your holiday, but there will be the added poignancy of knowing that yet again, innocent people have died or been injured at the hands of extremists!

Very wise words Mags. We are arriving in Hua Hin in 12 days and will not be changing our plans. The last thing this community needs is a drop in tourism.

We'll be there in just over a week. Bangkok then HH.

Mrs TA is now getting very, very nervous.... We also have someone else's child with us...

Let's hope that they catch the perpetrators quickly....

Bizarrely, my post, under the innocuous heading: 'Disturbing News', has been closed down as deemed 'inappropriate'. Hopefully, this thread won't meet the same fate.

I also notice that Motherwell's post has been removed. Any enlightenment? This is clearly a travel related topic!
