Hua Hin to Ko Samui

Could anyone help with travel from Hua Hin to Ko Samaui, we are staying in Cha Am for couple of weeks and would possibly like to take couple of days out to travel to Ko Samui - we think you can travel by train or boat from Hua Hin?? Can anyone help with costs and whether this would be worthwhile??

Thanks

Have a look at Lomprayah's website:

http://www.lomprayah.com/

When we were in Hua Hin, we had a few days of bad weather and they were always suggested as an option for popping over to Sanui (never did it in the end though!!).

Think they provide a coach to down Chumpon and then a high speed cat across to Samui. Or just get down to Chumpon and jump on their cat from there.

Another option is to get down to Surat Thani and then ferry across (you can do this by train, coach or taxi).

As I have found out from my many trips to Thailand, if you want to get somewhere there are many ways and many people willing to take you. Everything's possible (and generally fairly easy to arrange).

As Steve says, Lomprayah goes fromHua Hin twice daily, best is daytime, it is quit a journey altogether, express bus to Chumphon and then the fast feyy island hops to Koh Tao, Koh Phangan and then Samui.

If you want to get straight to Samui there are direct bus/ferry destined Koh Samui from Hua Hin several times, check at bus station ( well, ask hotel travel desk best ).

If you want to do it in style, car+driver, with a lunch stop about 5 hrs/5.30 to ferry easy driving speed, costs more for the car+driver to go on the ferry to Samui, your choice.

You can also train a/con 2nd class slepper to Surat Thani.

Perhaps look into Koh Tao, that is Chumphon and then 1 hr 30 mins over to Koh Tao.

Car+driver Hua Hin to Chumphon only takes about 2 hrs 45 mins straight through. Lomprayah Hua Hin can do tickets on the ferry for you.

If other than beach, an inland option is River Kwai, about 2.5 hrs by road from Hua Hin if you are interested in River Kwai but some jungle / river rafting etc.

As Steve has said, getting from place to place in Thailand is 'very easy' indeed.

If you leave Hua Hin on the 8.45 am Koh Tao service you reach Koh Tao at 2.45 pm, you could perhaps have a night there for a change and do some snorkeling, then continue to Koh Samui another day. Return from Samui using ferry+train combo

Have been looking at Koh Tao and think this looks closer and as nice as Samui - think we will probably head there - maybe try and get a 3 day, 2 night package from travel kiosk?? - we did something similar to get to Phi Phi last year and it worked out very economical to get travel plus accom package - do you think this may be an option??
