Khao lak hotel comparisons

We are a family of four (kids ages 5 and 7) interested in staying in khao lak in December. We are trying to decide between the Le Meridien, JW Marriott and The Sands. Can anyone offer any advice on these hotels? We were also told that White Sands Beach is lovely. Are any of these hotels on this beach or are there any hotels in the above class on this beach? One last question: is it easy to do a. Day trip to the Similan Islands from khao lak?

Hi can help you with le meridian and jw marriott as have stayed at both.

The le meridian is set on pakweep beach just round the headland from white sand beach which is accessible at low tide,a very good hotel set in huge grounds but apart from a few restaurants and a mini mart near the main gate and several beach restaurants across the creek past the beyond resort is rather secluded and about 20 minutes taxi transfer into town.

The Jwm is on Khuk khak beach and is a resort built around the largest swimming pool in se Asia but lacks the large grounds the le meridian has .again it is rather secluded and about the same distance into town .

The sands is a fairly new resort at the north end of bang la on ( khao lak ) town with all restaurants and shops within walking distance.

There are only 2 resorts on white sand beach the 4 star kantary and the 5 star sarojin .

The similan a are a day trip from khao lak by speed boat transfer and khao lak is the easiest place to do this trip from .

Am sure arandora will add to this when he wakes up as he is there now .

Hi

Not a lot of words I can add to the information provided by my good friend NB1 but here are some pics to illustrate the 3 options. All beach photos are from late last November to date:

* Pak Weeb Beach where 5* Le M is located at https:/…

* Pak Weeb to Cape Pakarang in the middle of which is White Sand Beach at https:/…

* Khuk Khak beach where 5* JWM is located https:/…

* JWM pics from our stay last April at https:/…

* Nang Thong Beach where 4* Sands is located at https:/…

* Previous Sands Resort photos at https:/…

Day trip to Similans and other tours in and around Khao Lak at tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g297914-i10908-k…

Hope these help.

Hello. Haven't stayed at the LM, so can't comment. Last year we stayed at the JW Marriott in a pool access room and although it was nice, I wouldn't stay there again. Hotel was way too big for my liking and the rooms and resort in general were looking tired and in need of some TLC, which I believe maybe taking place.

Whilst we were there last year I took a look at the Sands and absolutely loved it! The location is fab, the rooms new and the overall feel of the place was much "warmer" than the JW....in my opinion anyway.

We are staying there (in a family room) for 7 nights this year and I have also purchased a voucher for 8 nights next year....that's how convinced I am that we will love it!

No matter where you stay you will have a great time as KL is so beautiful and relaxing.

Happy holidays.

Cheers

Verrena
