Staying at La Flora for a week from 7th March has anyone experienced problems with Mosquitos and where is best to avoid particularly at night. we will be bringing the usual preventative sprays with us but any advise would be much appreciated as the little blighters seem to love both myself and other half. Thanks

1. Re: Mosquitos

bring something with Deet in it. Mosquitoes don't bother me - in fact out of our entire trip, I had maybe 5 bites on me but my friend? Another story. There wasn't any more skin left for them to grab hold of and she had consistently used repellent (whereas I didn't use any).

The greater risk is Dengue Fever, of which there are no reported cases in Khao Lak but it is prevalent throughout all S E Asia and is caused by the bites of day time mossies. So spray or apply Deet based repellent over your sun screen during the day or apply a sun screen like Boots Sunscreen with insect repellent. Mossies are most active from 5pm until after sunset and just after sunrise.
