bringing duty free into Sri Lanka from Dubai

Is this possible? The emirates web-site suggests that Sri Lanka will not accept duty free purchases whether they are in sealed packages from the airport or not - can anyone advise?

Thanks

Hi there....

I would have thought this was misleading info, the ONLY items NOT allowed into Sri Lanka from normal duty free is tobacco products, have taken drinks into Sri Lanka many times..

Regards

Dave

Agree. The whole issue is non-existent. 'Accepting' or not is only relevant for TRANSFERS in Lanka between an incoming and outgoing flight, where the 100 ml liquids rule applies unless it's dutyfree bought in Colombo. Not aware of any 'mutual trust' rules between Colombo and other Asian airports, unless the rules between EU airports and between US airports.

All the best,

Hi,

Is this what you are referring to?

emirates.com/english/…

That only relates to transiting via Colombo Airport.

Duty free allowance into Sri Lanka is:

Wine 2 bottles

Spirits 1.5 l

Toilet water 0.25 l

Small quantity of perfume

per passenger.
