sand flies?

I am planning to go on Honeymoon to the Seychelles at the end of September/beginning of October. I am a good target for insects and flies and sometimes have allergic reactions to insects bites. I read that there are a lot of sand flies and this starts worrying me ... Can someone let me know their experience?

Thanks

Fede

I think it depends where you are going. I also react badly to bites and did not get any on Praslin (at La Reserve) but they were a problem on Cerf Island. Having said that the reactions were not as bad as mozzie bites I've experienced in Europe so I don't think it should spoil your honeymoon.

I reacted badly to sandflies but if you use jungle strength repellent and take an anti-histamine that takes the edge off. The blisters are generally smaller and less itchy. Don't let it put you off going. We're going in a couple of weeks for the 6th time. Wear a cover up when walking on the beach

When I visited the Seychelles in September 2004 I did get a few nasty sandfly bites. However, when I was there last year I can not remember getting one bite. I did make a point of avoiding seaweed on the beach as I heard that is where they like to live. It seemed to have worked.
