Hotels / Accomm in Labuan Bajo

Looking for a nice mid range place for 5 nights in October

La Prima and Bintang Flores both seem nice .

but both are some distance from the " town ??"

this is where I presume most restaurants are..

Any suggestions for a nine place in town, mid range plus

we are 50 Plus, don't want bars , noise etc, just a central place near food outlets, tour shops etc..

thanks..

all the Hotels that you mentioned all good, But I suggest Bintang Flores, but if you want, they are all in same location, 10 minutes from the town but Jayakarta Hotel is more far from the town, but they provide shutlle service for customers

You are right, the restaurants are located downtown Labuan Bajo. But Labuan Bajo is a very tiny city, It is more a bigger village than a city. There are no bars in the heart of Labuan Bajo.Unfortunately the downtown area has only basic accommodations, mainly for backpackers. All the better and more cozy hotels are located a little bit outside of Labuan Bajo, about minimum 2 kilometers (1,3 Miles). The hotels provide shuttle busses to downtown for apprx. 5 AU$. per way and load.

Maybe you like to stay in a good small hotel or guesthosue above the city in the middle of a hill? The city with all the restaurants is in walkable distance downhill. In this case I can reccommend Bayview Gardens Hotel or Villa Seirma.

Low budget option on main street (central place) Jalan Soekarna Hatta is Losmen Matahari for 70,000 rp per day. But I prefer more upscale (or is this mid range for you) like Green Hill (around 450.000-500.000) also on the same main street. You are correct Bintang Flores or La Prima (and I stayed in Puri Sari for a few days) are too far away for a walk in the hot sun or bargaining with ojeks. Also staying in Green Hill means you stay above the street noise as you have to walk up two stairs. There rooms are very nice and their own veranda with one of the best view of the bay. Be aware in the center you always sleep near the mosques. So at 4.30 you will awake to their morning call to pray.

We stayed at the Bayview gardens in May., very nice, clean and quiet. The dutch owner is very helpful.

You can get a Bima (2000 idr/person) into LB.

Note: I don't understand why but everywhere we stayed in Flores did not have mossie nets....

Sea World Club has nets in all their bungalows. Also the cheaper ones for 250.000 rp per day.
