Advice on Bandung

Hi, I'll be in Bandung for 5 days (19-23 Dec), travelling with a 2 yr-old child. Would like to stay 2 nights in the city (near shopping) and 2 nights in the mountain area. Any recommendations for luxury or 5 star hotels for these 2 areas? Which are the must-see spots and restaurants which are child-friendly?

Thank you!

Hai7

for city area hotel, try trans studio hotel (one site with trans studio mall) or hilton (near pasar baru).

mountain area you mean lembang ? or ciater ? there is a good new hotel in lembang hotel paradise http://www.grandparadise.co.id or gh universal http://www.ghuniversal.com located just before lembang.

if want to stay in ciater, can try http://www.graciaspa.com

or in garut (about 2 hour trip from bandung). you can stay in Kampung Sampireun http://www.kampungsampireun.com/

Bandung itself is already in the higher grounds and if you're referring the mountain area near the volcano, there is none. lembang is just the area northern of Bandung. It is not necessary for you to switch hotel IMO.

I would recommend Hilton Bandung for my top choice of 5-star hotel in the city.

if child friendly mean stroller friendly, spots were limited only by malls. As far as i've ever went to, the only F.O which have larger circulation space was 'Rumah Mode' at Jalan Setiabudi.

Trans Metro Studio, afaik, not suitable for toddlers.

Nature spots s.a Tangkuban Parahu or Kawah Putih also not stroller friendly.

Some stand alone restaurant outside mall's foodcourt, could provide toddler seat by request but only in a very small amount. Mostly they only have 1 or 2.

For local sundanese food, I suggest 'D'Palm' restaurant at Jalan Lombok which has small children playground and nice fishpond. 'Hokahoka Bento' at Jalan Setiabudi, less than 100 mtrs north from 'Rumah Mode' also has children playground.

Adult supervise is a must at those restaurant's playground.

Enjoy Bandung.

Hilton is VERY conveniently located from FO shopping point of view. Paskal hypersquare is just few meters away from your hotel door step ( walking distance). To travel to Jl. Riau or Jl. Setibudi you indeed need a taxi - about 20-25 k IDR/ ride. Chihampelas is NOT near Hilton.
