Trip to Bandung this June

Good afternoon to you,

My husband and I are planning to visit Bandung this coming end of June. We are traveling with a 3 years old son and this is our first trip to the city.

We'd be very appreciate if you guys can share some experiences and give us recommendations on:

1. Place to stay: we'd want to find and nice, clean, safe and quiet hotel or resort which is not too far from the city center. How much should we expect to pay for hotel/resort?

2. Things to do: apart from shopping, what else should we do in Bandung? What kind of sports? Sight-seeing spots? City tour? Adventure tour?

3. Where to eat? Both local and international restaurant.

4. Is there a bargain tradition for shopping Bandung and if there is, how many percent of the quoted price would be suitable?

5. Last but not least, if any of us felt sick, is this easy to get access to the hospital/clinic in Bandung?

Thank you very much.

Your first post? Hmmmmmmmm - start with reading, posting a question is a second thing in TA.

1/ Check Bandung hotel list

2/ Check Bandung attractions list

3/ Check restaurants list

4/ No, prices are fixed. FOs are not market or bazaar.

5/ Purchase travel insurance before traveling.

6/ You have an INCREDIBLE info resource in front of you - TA. Use it. Read a lot.

1-3 the answers are as mentioned above.

4. If you go to Factory Outlets, there is always price tag on the item, like buying an item in Isetan or JUSCO (can you bargain?) However, if you go to Diaz or Gazeebo for handbags, u can try asking for discounts from the shop assistants who will refer u to her boss (if only buy 1 better dont ask la). Pasar Baru is a different story, here u pit your skill against the trader, no standard rule, just try your luck and u should at least get the feel of the item u wanna buy. As long as you offer a reasonable price most traders will accept that. Just dont waste your time haggling over Rph 1-2k for Rph 200k telekung (for example).

5.Many clinics/hospitals/pharmacy (its called Apotek there) all over the place. Most medicine (e.g. pening kepala, sakit perut, cirit) u can buy at pharmacy, no problem.
