Sally, from the Ubud Markets (everyone knows this) turn left along JL Raya and walk through the lovely tree area along until you almost get to the bridge. There is a hotel on the right hand side called Ibah and the path starts just to the left of their driveway. You can see a footbridge that crosses the river then the path starts. There is a cafe right at the top of the ridge and when you get to the road that is the end of it and you can either turn around and make your way back, or turn left on the road and make your way back that way.

Good directions Lizzy:

There are actually two ways to do the ridge walk...(of course) Some people like to start at Payogan Village which is located in Kedewatan...if you get dropped off at the start of the walk you will END up in town when you are hot and tired and it's easier to get a taxi back when you are closer to a busy section. Or another way to put it, If you start at the very good Neka Museum on Jalan Raya Sanggingan, , walk another 500 meters along the road as it turns left, then you will see a sign on the right that says "Pura Pucak Payogan" or you can ask directions. It's about 200 meters past the big Japanese Ramen shop and Fly cafe.

Start at the temple and follow the walk...after the line of villas you go on the top of the ridge and end up at some steps and you will end up at Campuhan temple and you can walk out towards the big Dutch Bridge.

I's actually pretty simple, but needs some explanation. Or just ask people...every one knows Pura Pucak Payogan (Payogan Temple)

The walk usually takes about 2 hours...bring a hat, use sunscreen and money if you see any paintings along the way you like or want to buy a cool drink..
