Looking for a 4 bedroom villa - any suggestions ????

Our family of 8 adults is going to Ubud and then Seminyak in June 2013. I am looking for a 4 bedroom villa in Ubud and would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations. Hope to pay around $A500 odd per night.

I have trawled TA and flipkey without much result so far.

Has anyone got a recommendation? Tks Glennie

We recently stayed at Villa Madu in Ubud. About a five minute walk to the markets but feels like it is in the middle of the jungle. Beautiful villa and gardens, amazing staff. Has two bedrooms in the main villa, then two bungalows further down the ravine/garden. Have a look here...

If I could just ask mrsxtro a question, we are looking at staying at villa madu on our next trip to Ubud. How long does it take to walk to the closest restaurants etc and is it a flat walk? Would you highly recommend this villa and is there anything you don't like about it?

Happy to answer your questions...

Closest restaurant is probably Putu's Wild Ginger which gets great reviews on tripadviser and is only a 2 minute walk from the villa. There is a Mexican place about a 3 minute walk away. And the villa is only a 5 minute walk away from the Ubud markets, there are many restaurants in this area. It is a mostly flat walk, maybe a slight incline in some places but certainly no hills.

We loved Villa Madu. It is very close to all the action, but once you walk down the driveway you really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. It is located on the side of a ravine with a small river flowing down below. Lots of trees, sounds of nature including roosters which didn't bother us but could be heard crowing in the morning sometimes. The staff are truly delightful. They make you feel like you are an honored guest in a much-loved home rather than paying customers. There really wasn't anything we didn't like. If I was being very nit-picky I could say the pool is not a large one although we had 7 children in it many times plus adults and it wasn't super crowded. Also, there is only air conditioning in the main bedroom downstairs, the rest of the rooms and bungalows only had fans. The weather in Ubud is cooler at night so we weren't uncomfortable. The bungalows are very cute and cosey but are down a number of steps so if mobility is an issue they may not be suitable.

Hope that is of some help.

Thanks for that mrsxtro. Not sure about not having airconditioning. Might have to put it to the vote.
