Bali Pavilions, Puri Santrian or Parigata Villas? Advice pls

Hi all,

We're planning our first trip to Bali for late Oct/early November this year.

Can anyone offer any advice between the three hotels on our shortlist? Budget wise, Puri and Parigata are right on budget, but we could stretch to Pavilions.

Or do recommend any others! We're a couple in our mid-30s, not mad into partying any more but don't want to be stuck somewhere very remote. We're happy to walk 15mins or so out for dinner in the evening, or take taxis.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

Check out Tamukami - small, very friendly, fabulous pool, massage etc on site, great restaurant, breakfast cooked to order (not buffet), 3 minute walk to beach (across the road), heaps of other restaurants within your 15 minute walk. There are a number of drivers they can recommend for day trips - we've had a great time with Nyoman & Wayan.

We've been there twice and will be going back again. It feels like a home away from home.

Love it.

We are just back from Bali and would highly recommend the Parigata Resort, the Villa resort looked lovely but pricewise the resort (boutique hotel) was spot on, we did 6 days there and 6 at the Hyatt, But for the price (US$50 = 29 gbp) it was amazing, rooms very large (bigger than Club room at Hyatt) HUGE , comfy bed n pillows and brand new air con. system.Superb standard of cleaning & amenities. The pool and gardens, ponds, waterfalls are incredible.2 mins to beach and one minute to shopping/restaurant road along a well paved/lit private drive. If you are interested we booked through Balitrip, I will send you there e.mail & website. Mari

Personally I found the location of the Puri to be just a bit too quiet! Although there are restaurants and such around, it is in the quiet bit of Sanur. You can get bemos quite easily into the not-as-quiet-but-still-very-quiet centre of Sanur, although this is extra cost; not much though. The daily sunbed war at the Puri was also irritating, but that's for a different thread.

If you're thinking of the Santrians, the Griya is a much better location.

BTW, Tamukami is fab, although not beach front.

In case you're interested in the Seawalker tour, the set-up is based at the Santrian. Guests who opt for the lunch option eat on the patio at the hotel. Looks like a private beach for the hotel.
