Bintang beer and Bali Hai are the local brews, both very nice, expect to pay about £1.00 - £1.20 for a 500ml bottle. Expect to pay a lot more in the Puri Santrian! There are a couple of bars very close to Puri that look like they're run by ex-pats, so you can get bottled Guinness and Heineken there, but more expensive. Cocktails vary in price, average about £2.00 - £3.00, the cheaper ones contain the local firewater rather than branded spririts.
If wine is your thing, you can get a half litre of house wine in the Sanur Beach Cafe for about £5.00, pretty decent quality.
Sorry to contradict, but you can't buy 500ml bottles in Bali. I think they are 620ml. Perhaps someone can correct me if I 'm wrong.
hi, drinks are extremely cheap outside your hotel. wine is not so cheap though. there is a warung just a short walk from puri santrian called mama putus on the beach they have another one on the main st also (also other warungs) they have the cheapest food and beer. for example a large bottle of bintang is around 15 000rp. freshly squeezed juices are around 8 000rp.
there are bars, pubs and restaurants all around sanur selling cheap beer and a cheap price for a cocktail is around 30 000 to 40 000rp. just love those bali cocktails!
there is a supermarket a short bemo ride from your hotel called hardys that sell an assortment of local and imported alcohol.
the local 'bali moon' liquors are worth a try.
a good idea is to buy a couple of bottles of duty free spirits when you head to bali at your airport. mixers are very cheap at hardys. we often have a few drinks while we relax in our room and on the balcony. this is much cheaper than paying the hotel to bring you drinks.
basically the prices of food and drinks outside your hotel is much cheaper. just take a stroll along the beach and you will find a good choice of places. JL tamblingan is also full of cheap places.
enjoy your trip.
Thanks for the info guys.
Sounds really good, i cant wate for my first bottle of bintang now :o)
Paul and Michelle
goginan - ah well, what's 120ml between friends? All I know is, they're big bottles!
A small Bintang on the beach is 8.000. Only $1. Might be 9.000 now.
Cocktails are around 40.000 but many places have 2 for 1 (happy hour). Same with the beers but they are a bit dearer than the beach.
Pretty cheap at most places (except upmarket hotels and restaurants.
They are indeed Happynoodleboy_uk, but they seem to go so fast?
hello paul and michelle,we have just returned from bali, the drinks are cheap anyway. we stayed at the puris sister hotel and the cocktails were resonable before the long happy hours..the sterling rate is brilliant there ,,we took a littie cash that lasted ages,,and t/cs which we brought most of them back ..to eat and drink out is very cheap..i think a large beer is about 60p,transport is very cheap .the are really struggling with a lack of tourists at the moment.this was our second visit to bali.but we always stay alot futher down from the puri.walk down the beach and visit the bars and resturants,if you would like anymore info e-mail i,ll try to help. jan
notice that you have been to puri's sister hotel - is that the gyria - we are just about to book a trip there. any advise on up grading rooms or how expensive it is to eat out etc?
