Hope you don't mind Wayne but i'm just going to follow this thread. It appears we'll be in Bali the same time and the daughter and myself want to get some clothes made. We're staying at the jayakarta in Legian so a Tailor in Legian would be awesome.

Hi Wayne, my husband has had suits made at Jonoko on Poppies 2 (the east end). He gets a jacket & 2 pairs trousers for 650,000Rp and my daughter has had an equestrian jacket made for about 350,000Rp. The only thing I would caution is that he needed to come in at least twice for fitting and adjustments so allow time for that as they can't do same day adjustments. Also I have heard people come in not happy because they have given them an item to copy and it has been lost. We were happy with the garments and would definitely have more made.

Hi!

May I suggest you look at IslandC also known as Bali Young Fashions, she comes to you at your hotel for measuring, consult and all fittings etc. are done in the comfort of your room. You can find her on Facebook.

Whatever you do, please avoid Aneka Tailors in Kuta/Tuban, I speak from past experience and would not like to see anyone else be very out of pocket with poorly made articles of clothing, including one made inside out. Delay after delay and items delivered to my hotel just a few hours before leaving for the airport late in the evening! Nothing could be done!

I second Island C! Lovely to deal with, and really good quality clothes. I also find it really easy, as they come to you. You don't have to spend hours going back and forth to the tailors. All my clothes have been fantastic, and really good quality. Have a great holiday.

I used a tailor by the name of Wendy in September 2013 she was amazing. She came to my hotel 3 times for fittings. The dress was perfect just like the picture. Can highly recommend her. Wendy.design@yahoo.com

Another vote for Janoko in Poppies II

We've used them about five or six times now with no dramas at all.

My husband got some business trousers made at Brisbane Tailors at 3 Brothers Lane in Legian off Padma Utara. They were done on time at relatively short notice. He was happy with the make and he's got pretty high sartorial standards.

It seems they specialise in men's clothing only - I asked them about women's clothing, they weren't too keen on doing it. I was OK with that - at least they were honest, where I've had other visit-you-hotel people happy to take my money but who delivered really poorly made clothes and wasted some nice material I had bought specially.

I also lost a shoe getting some made and had to chase down a pair of jeans, so I'd be really reluctant to leave anything with anyone again (not that I think I would get anything made again but hey, that's me and lots of people are obviously happy with their tailors).

I'd advise leaving heaps of time for fittings - tell the tailor you're leaving at least a couple of days before you actually are as things usually get delayed and often need redoing. There's nothing worse than trying to get it sorted out on the day you're leaving.

Do you have a contact or address for IslandC? Thanks!
