Jimbaran - need for transport?

Travelling to Jimbaran and staying at the Sari Segara resort after xmas. Have read that it is a taxi-ride from decent restaurants, shops etc. Would hiring a car be a good idea or is the traffic too crazy? Are there any clubs nearby for nightlife? Is the resort good? The beach clean? What happens at new year? Any tips would be appreciated.

Hi

the taxis are plentiful and cheap. Don't bother with hiring a car, there are so many obstacles and yes the traffic can be crazy. Parking is also very hard to find at the best of times. I am sure others more informed will assist you with your other questions.

cheers

don't hire a car. (read previous posts about this). not a good idea at all especially if it is your first visit. taxis are cheap and plentiful in bali. much cheaper than australia. $2 - $5 will take you to most places near to where you are staying. stick with the 'bluebird' taxis where ever possible their meters work properly. you will see them everywhere. there are some restaurants to walk to from where you are staying. if you want night life and to visit some other restaurants then get a taxi to either seminyak, legian or kuta. not far from where you will be. there are lists of restaurants which you can see by clicking on 'restaurants' on the left hand side of this page. for example JL laksmana at seminyak has heaps to choose from. there area also some restaurant reviews if you do a google search. also if you type in 'nightlife' or restaurants in the search forum you will find some posts.

there are also local drivers who will be offering you transport all the time so please use them for longer drives before thinking of driving yourself. it is much better to sit back relax and enjoy. if you want a driver for a day trip check some of the ones recommended on the forum and book them in advance. around $45 - $55 will give you a full day out exploring bali. at new year most hotels have some activity planned.
