Ritz too far?

We are looking at staying at the Ritz for a few nights, but it seems so out of the way, we are not sure. Other ideas for nice hotels with great beaches are needed!

Thanks!

Ritz is one of Bali's best resort hotels. Its located at Jimbaran, which is an area of luxury resorts, including the Four Seasons and Intercontinental. RC is probably Bali's largest hotel in terms of land area and guest rooms. Its more Cliff top than beach though. Its not out of the way at all.

Other options in that area would be the Four Seasons, which sets the standard for luxury accommodation on Bali, and the Intercontinental, which is more affordable. There are also a number of villa properties in the area as well. Perhaps the best beach location at Jimbaran is the Jimbaran Puri Bali hotel.

If you want to be closer to nightlife then consider a villa or hotel in the Seminyak area.

If you are looking for a luxury resort, besides the 4S there are also a number of resorts at Nusa Dua. The Hyatt is well managed, the Amanusa is the top property in Nusa Dua, and the St Regis will open in September with spectacular beach front villas.

how long are you planning to stay in bali?. there are so many hotels and villas and to be honest you don't have to spend a lot to find suitable accommodation. jimbaran bay tuban kuta legian seminyak are all located within close proximity to each other along the same stretch of beach. here the sun sets and the beach has suitable waves for surfing. legian and seminyak end is a good choice as there are good restaurants and shopping in this area.

if you go to sanur as another option there are some lovely beach front hotels, the beach is calm and the sun rises here. sanur is more a traditional village and a very relaxing place to stroll and enjoy a 'quieter' time. still good restaurants and shops. nusa dua has top class hotels but it is not the 'real' bali and the area is a purpose built tourist enclove. having said that for a day or two of hotel relaxing it is good.

what is your actual budget per night?

when you say the ritz may be out of the way what is it you wish to be near so some other places can be recommended?? if it is walking distance to restaurants and shops etc start looking at legian and seminyak, if it is a quieter traditional place look at sanur.

bali is not a huge place and so getting around is relatively easy and cheap. local taxis and drivers are plentiful, so day trips or just getting from one area to another is not a problem.

3. Re: Ritz too far?

We are going for 9 days and are wanting to break up the trip between Ubud and another area. Our main interest is actually scenery as my husband will be interested in photo opportunities.

We were looking at the Ubud hanging gardens for the Ubud portion of the trip because we would be in a more secluded area for trekking around and for photos as well, but we want to be near the town for the night life so we are thinking of changing to a hotel more towards the center. And then during the day I guess we could get a car to take us out further for treks etc....

As for the Ritz, we are wanting a nice resort, but are not set on which area as of yet. We just want to be able to visit other restaurants at night as opposed to eating at the resort. Also we are needing a convenient location for day trips as well.

As for price, all ranges are ok. So we are really open to any suggestions.

Thanks for taking the time to help us with all of this!
