Difference between the Telega River/ Ayung River for rafting

What is the difference between the Telega River and Ayung River for white water rafting? Is the Telega River a longer drive from Seminyak , but has no stairs? Not too worried about the stairs.

Thanks

Ayung river is tamer, the rapids are rated lower than the Telega Waja river. Yes TW is probably nearly 2 hours from Seminyak. Both are good in their own way.

Beware the stairs....

I preferred the Ayung River, It was not as jolting as some parts of the Telaga Waja and the scenery was lovely.

The drop at the end of the Telaga Waja ride almost stacked my knees into my jaw :)

Have a read here it's a nice report.

I agree with Linda, I found Ayung deeper and smoother.

Nearly snapped in half going over that drop on TW.

You don't have to go over the drop if you don't want to, the guide can let you out and you go down the stairs, they push the raft over and you get back in at the bottom..

I have done both rivers and find the Telaga Waja a lot cleaner, not as deep and you don't have all the stairs that the Ayung has down into the valley and back out again. We found Alam Amazing Adventures terrific with out hardly any stairs at the end and what there were small and went up a very slight incline towards the road and the ride is longer than on the Ayung as well.

TW is about 30 to 45 minutes further driving. (Ayung is about 1 hour or more from Seminyak)

FYI : the below link (if it works) should take you to a google map that shows where the Ayung and Telaga Waja rafting courses are. Each company does a slightly different course, but many of them are almost identical or overlap.

On the map, the western (left) course is the Mega Rafting on teh Ayung. The eastern course (right) is the Alam rafting on the Telaga Waja River. It shows where the dam/drop is.
