If you are in Jodhpur, try some cooking classes!

Me and a friend found ourselves in Jodhpur for a few days. Thankfully we stumbled upon a lovely spice shop, Spice Paradise (in Amar Chok, near the clock tower), which is run by the lovely Anil and Rekha Sharma. They also happened to run fantastic cooking classes, which took us step by step through the art of some very tasty North Indian dishes. Our teacher's soft, gentle ways made us novices feel confident with our cooking attempts (which turned out fantastically tasty). It was a day of day of learning, lots of eating and friendship. We would highly recommend this place to anyone with 3-4 hours to spare in Jodhpur! What a highly memorable day for us, with such satisfied stomachs and hearts! =)

We agree. We were in Jodhpur a week ago and try cooking lessons at Spice Paradise. It is located just one block west of the North gate of the Clock Tower and it is an experience you will not forget. For four hours, in the small kitchen of our host, we learned how to prepare a wide spectrum of Indian delicacies, incudling pokara, curry, dal, raita, chutney, Indian breads, etc. Our efforts were rewarded with deliciousness. One of us is a serious dal fanatic, and declared this some of the best dal tadka ever, cooked using techniques theretofore unimagined. Our teacher, Anil Sharma, put us to work with tons of useful tips and close supervision. We ended up with great food, a cookbook and a fabulous experience. She is a delight and it is well worth the price.

What did you pay, myche? Can they be booked in advance via email or does one have to take a chance after arriving in Jodhpur?

Dear Deepa: We paid 800 rps/ person. That included a 4 hour cooking lesson, delicious meal and recipes to try at home. I have an e-mail address: anilKumar20042003@gmail.com so you can try to send an e-mail. But as Anil Sharma put it they are new at computer.

Have fun!

Hi we did the private cooking lesson today 11/10/11 at Spice Paradise (Jodphur, near the clock tower). The atmosphere was friendly, we felt very welcome and we enjoyed it very much. The food was delicious and we learned a lot about the indian cousine. We payed 850 Rupies for a 4h lesson and learned to cook 4 indian dishes. We highly recommend it. Thanks to Rekha our cooking teacher.

Agree, agree, agree....

Can't recommend this class highly enough.

The dishes we learnt in this home style kitchen were delicious, the teacher Rekha is such a kind soul and her teaching style is very encouraging. The experience is recommended to those wanting to learn the Indian classics and spend the day with day with some truly beautiful people.

Oh and you will leve with an extremely full tummy!!!
