Kumarakom to Airport- Any sightseeing opportunities?

We have a late flight home after touring Kerala for 8 days and have to leave our accomodation in Kumarakom by midday. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fill the time (6 hours or so) on our journey back?

We are travelling with an 80 year old so I can't organise a very arduous journey but 2-3 hours driving would be acceptable. We will already have spent a day in Cochin looking around the Fort area and the fishing nets, also unfortunately it will be a Monday so I think the Hill Palace will be closed.

After leaving Kumarakom by mid- day , you could spend couple of hours in this Aqua tourism project at Paliakkari , 12 kms after Vaikom town . The airport should be another 45 kms from here . The fish farm is open from 10 AM to 6 PM, Entry fees is INR 200 for adults and IR 100 for kids

Check this link for some details and pictures about this farm tourism

Afterwards you can also visit Thripunithara Sree Poornathrayesa temple . It is ideal to be here after 5 PM

That's fantastic. It will appeal to all of us and a fresh fish lunch sounds lovely too.

Is it best to visit Thripunithara Sree Poornathrayesa after 5pm for pretty night lighting, or because it is shut earlier?

That’s great advice

Temple will be open at 4PM and closing at 07:30 PM. But the “puja” of the temple will be at around 6PM, expect little rush that time. You can visit any time from 4PM

/ManchesterTravelmom,

Visiting Thripunithara Sree Poornathrayesa temple and witness the "Puja" after "fresh fish lunch" sounds good !! Just to inform you that only Hindus are allowed inside the temple.

Just incase, if it helps..

temples ,generally wont be shut until the 'Athazapooja', which would be 8-ish or sometimes a bit earlier

yes !

I also thought it will be good if you reach there and spend some time ,1/2 to 1 hour when the lamps are lighted
