Adv vs on the spot hotel booking | Srinagar, Pahalgam in Aug

Even if at some of the places Aug has been mentioned as off season for Kashmir, the rates in online booking are extremely high -

E.g

Hotel Pahalgam, Heeavan are over 8000/- per night

I am travelling in Aug first week so would appreciate if someone can give a suggestion if I should book the hotels online before going or should go there and book on the spot.

Thanks in Advance

Abhishek

I too have been checking out hotels. I am planning to travel in Mid Sept but the hotel prices at all 3 places - Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam is high.

Wud it be gud to do an advance booking, also considering the curfew in kashmir. Plz suggest

May try for spot booking of hotel in Oct 1st week, to get a better deal. After 10th October, influx of tourists will be there.

the rates mentioned by you are rack rates, in case of vacancy you can certainly get the rooms at much lower prices.certainly, on the spot is better. the time mentioned by you is not really a high season

I am planning to visit Pahalgam , Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonmarg from 15 July to 20 July 2014. So would appreciate if someone can give a suggestion if I should book the hotels online before going or should go there and book on the spot. I think since July is bit off season, hotel can be booked on the spot with good discount. But since Amarnath Yatra is also on the same time, could be difficult to find a hotel on the spot?

Pl suggest
