Ganma - had you been in Goa in excess of 90 days before you left?

Have you been officially informed that you cannot return for two months?

If NO to both of the above I'd say it's worth clarifying further.

Let us all know please, 'cos we are interested.

As DagenhamKal said this was discussed in her attached link, but in practice no-one as yet has posted their experience of the new restrictions.

It would be helpful to know if you were you told in India before you left that you would have to wait for two calendar months before you could return. If this was the case, was your pasport stamped to this effect? Also, was your visa for 6 months multiple entry or longer?

Sorry about all the questions but your answers might assist others in the same boat.

We arrived in Goa on the 20th Oct with a 6mth multi entry tourist visa.On 18th Dec we returned to UK for 2wk to spend Xmas with family. Our return flght was scheduled for 4th Jan returning to UK 16th March. All our flights were booked in May.At no time have we been informed of the new restriction by the Indian authorities.Friends emailed us yesterday to tell us that they had heard rumours of the restrictions and attached a newspaper article. We rang the London Indian Consulate who told us that we could not enter India for 2 calendar month.

we rang Jetairways who we were flying with and Southall Travel who we made all the bookings with BUT they didnt know anything about restrictions. We then rang our Insurance company they informed us that we cant claim because the flights etc havnt been cancelled by the companies. And in small print on policy it excludes Government decisions.

We have now cancelled the flights(because they wont lets us in to India)and rebooked for Feb after 2 calander months , we had to pay £130 each to change flight dates and the increase in air fare ticket. We have been left well out of pocket. We rent a flat in Goa which the rent will still have to be paid.

The original post I read regarding the 2 month interval stated you could return if you got special permission from consulate. Its to late now if you already cancelled flights but I would advise anyone to double and treble check with consulate before cancelling flights. Surely they would give special permission to return if visa and tickets booked before this rule was implemented. There was a post on another forum stating that some officials new of the new rule and some didnt know anything about it so appears to be in state of flux at moment.

So, will we be turned away at departures at Gatwick then?

Or will we be put on a return flight at Dabolim if we are only a week under the two months?

What are we supposed to do?

We returned on 13.1.09. and go again on 4 Feb 2010. Just dont need this worry. What next do we have to do to go on holiday to Goa?

Interest point beachfreaky - unless your actual visa has been endorsed with date of your last travel will the check in clerk flick through every page of your passport looking for previous entries - if so will be even longer check in queues.

Ganma - I don't think that's right, IMHO. It looks like you were in India on your first visit for LESS than 90 days and, as I understand it, this new rule only kicks in IF you have stayed IN EXCESS of 90 days, then leave and re-enter within the 180 days of your Multi Entry Visa.

The problem is right now that I reckon many of the people at the Indian High Commission have no clue whatsoever as to how this thing works, and it is probably easier for them to just err on the side of caution if they take a telephone enquiry.

Personally, I would follow this up, and fight tooth and nail to get the correct info.

I'll have a bet that both the Welloutofits and Jeera will be back in Goa shortly after a trip out of Goa.

I may be wrong, but......................................................
