Definately take a Taxi - fare will be no more than $25 but always ask and confirm before you get into the vehicle. Do this anytime your are taking a Taxi - the drivers will always know how much the fare is even though they are legally required to turn on their meters.

$75 for such a short distance is a total rip-off!!

Thanks everyone for your input. Will definitely be catching a taxi.

Hi I have a party if 5 adults and 1 infant, do the taxi carry baby chairs? We had arrange a transfer with first landing, but it seems expensive at $24pp one way. Would a taxi be a better option?

We arrive on Monday 22nd Aug

Yes I would take a taxi. Even if you had to take 2 it would still work out cheaper. It is approx. $25- $35 from airport to First Landing. The yellow taxis are just outside the arrivals door.

Hope this helps

I read on someone elses review that it is only FJD13 on the meter from Lautoka to the airport but the taxi drivers say around FJD32. Was posted this year too.

Generally not gilesy - you will probably have to carry the baby on your lap unless you pre-book specialist transport with a child carrier. We did it once and I'd actually feel safer with him on my lap as they are not the same standard as ours. The maximum speed limit in Fiji is 80km/h and between the airport & FL it's unlikely you'll go much above 60 at any point so I'm sure you'll be OK.

You will probably have to get a mini bus taxi with the number of passengers you have in your party expect to pay-F$10 more for the mini bus, again these are available for hire at the taxi rank at the airport they will not take 5 adults in a taxi so even with the extra charge it is a lot cheaper than 2 taxis.

All the yellow taxis at the airport are fairly aged but road worthy by FIjian standards. You won't find any baby seats in any of the taxis. We used them in August and the fare was $25 Fjd but agree on a fare with the driver before getting in the taxi.

An option you might research is a private vech pickup using www.world-airport-transfer.com They offer a pickup for 4 to 6 persons for $77.86 AUD per car. They may be able to organize a baby seat.

Good luck - you,ll love First Landing
