Hi Frits,

I suggest you can fly from Sharm to Cairo. And you will bay half price for the children. For to see Pyramids, Memphis, Musem, Mosque and the Citadel.

Tombs in Luxor if you have time to see.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Hi we flew to Cairo(45 minute flight) when we were in Sharm...saw mosque, sphinx, pyramids and of course the usual shop visits!!!!........Long day (left about 4am got back about 730pm) but worth every penny.....You can book with any of the reps at your hotel or book in Naama Bay just make sure you book with a company that has insurance... Costs do vary enormously.......We paid £135 per adult with Medholidays rep in our hotel with 10% discount for children as our holiday company(think it was Mytravel/Airtours) wanted £175 per adult....A couple who booked via Mytravel did exactly same as what we did with Medholidays so the trips all look the same......

You can also go by coach which is cheaper but does take quite a long time ...think someone said it takes about 7 hours and you get picked up around midnight for the journey.....not sure if you want to do that with children.......

To see the tombs you would have to go to Luxor which again is a distance from Sharm and Cairo.....Price will dictate what you are able to do....

If you do manage to go to Luxor make sure you take the kids to see Ay's tomb who was King Tut's successor(some believe he killed King Tut) It is set away from the main tombs in a quiet part of the Valley of the Kings and you will probably have the whole tomb to yourselves......My young son loved it there.....He thought he was Indiana Jones!!!!

Hi

Just got back form Sharm - we had 4 kids with us We booked flights to Cairo using the travel agent Mina Travels, based at the Marriot Mountain. They did even cheaper flights than booking direct with Egypt Air. Flight to Cairo from Sharm then a flight back from Luxor. We booked a tour guide - we had made contact with cairoeyes@hotmail.com before we went and confirmed flight details when these were booked,. We were picked up at the airport and did pyramids and sphinx, museum, bazaar - lunch was also included - one of those eat as much as you like buffet things - not really my cup of tea - but you may want to discuss this in advance. Cost 250 egyptian pounds for 2 adults 3 children, all tickets etc included. To be honest, the guide we had was a bit dry - he knew his stuff but didn't really pitch it at the children - maybe you could request this when you book. We spent the day in Cairo then took the overnight train to Luxor. We booked into a flat away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist area - there was very little to do, it was a bit grubby and there were very few decent places to eat, so although we had booked for 3 days for $150, we actually went over the river and booked into the Sheraton after the first night. Booked a fab tour guide though Jane Akshar jane@flatsinluxor.com - made it all really come alive for the children - so they loved that. Bear in mind Antenol - for tummy upsets - looks like yellow gloss paint but works a treat. Use only bottled water - even for brushing teeth. If you go on the overnight train - take your own food as it is crap - other than that enjoy! If you need any other help, let me know
