Latest FCO Advice, the facts

Since there has been some scaremongering on here, I thought I would post the facts about the latest advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. I hope a moderator does not shut this down as this could be useful information for people

As of today, the foreign office feels it is safe to travel to all areas in Sharm el Sheikh including Taba and Dahab. This includes transfers between both Sharm airport and Taba airport.

This means that St Catherines is off limits

I imagine, as they leave the Sharm area, that all coach trips to Cairo etc are also off limits, but by air should be fine.

Remember, leaving the above areas will probably mean your insurance will be invalidated.

So at the moment, travel to sharm is safe

If the above changes, I will amend this post, and shall check and update daily

Please do not post any chit chat on here please, lets keep it on topic so it does not get closed, like the other threads have,as like I said some people may find this useful

Do you think that means that the buses from Cairo into Sharm El Sheikh will be off limits also ?

Where would I find out this information ?

My Egyptian boyfriend is meant to be travelling to see me in 5 weeks from Cairo is why I am asking, thanks.

If he is travelling from Cairo I imagine he would still be able to get the bus.

The above really only applies to tourists, I imagine the buses will still be running for the workers etc.

I really do hope so! He said that that's no problem in Sharm as he has friends there. Which is good. Fingers crossed all stays like that :-) thanks !

Thanks for a sensible post. I too have read that the tourist resorts such as Sharm and Dahab are considered safe. I really hope the Egyptians do not suffer further loss to the tourist trade so many rely on. As a diver I also hope to continue visiting the wonderful oceans there as often as I can. Fingers crossed!

Hello,

@LuciaTravel

Im currently in Sharm and local buses are travelling to Cairo. There are some problems with petrol so it may take a little longer but your boyf should have no problems getting to Sharm.
