Tolls

Hi,

We are flying into EWR Newark on Sunday 15th May and driving down to Marriott Fairway Villas in Galloway. Can anybody please advise me what the Toll charge might be? We will be going out everyday so do you think it will be worthwhile obtaining an EZ Pass from the car rental company or just pay as and when.

Thanks

4-5 bucks from EWR to Seaview. Going out every day. Where are you going? no toll into AC on Rt 30.

>>will be worthwhile obtaining an EZ Pass from the car rental company<< Definitely not. The auto rental companies have a daily charge for 'renting' a transponder, + they charge a premium above and beyond the toll rates. And y'all can likely pickup an EZPass transponder in a reststop. I don't know the details as I've had EZPass since it's 1st inception last century, so I didn't pay close attn. to the reststop ones. What I do know: they're called EZPass On~The~Go. they cost like $35 and have $25 immediately available balance. It can be registered on the phone or online here [just found this] https:/…

rship is right, it is easy enough to get your own ezpass , but you prepay tolls $25 at a clip, so EWR and back is $10. are you running all around on toll roads? if not, pay cash.

Newark is exit 13A I think. You'll go to exit 11 and take the Garden State Pky to exit 44ish? Maybe $4.00 tolls each way 5 max

Thanks for all your replies. As for going out everyday we plan to visit New York, Philidelphia, AC and just take scenic routes to wherever we end up.I think I will probably pay as I go and avoid the toll roads if I can. They are normally the most boring roads to drive on anyway.

Taking a car to New York, and even to Philadelphia is not smart. You don't need a car in either city, and parking is expensive. Philadelphia will be at least $18/day, and New York, probably twice as much, possibly more. Bridge or Tunnel Tolls into New York are $15.00, and into Philadelphia, $5.00, and that's NOT counting the highway tolls. You can drive to a train station and take the train in to either city. If this interests you, post back for more details.

Thats great advice and I would be interested in getting the train as it would make a nice change.

Luckily you're just on the Jersey Pike for a short stretch,it may be the most expensive road in America .

A couple tips ,you have to take a ticket when you get on the pike and surrender it when you pay the toll at exit 11 . DONT loose it. Also you get off Parkway exit 48 to go to Marriot.

You can take the train from AC to Philly and also connect to NYC from there. You can also take busses direct to NYC from AC. If you have a car you can drive to a lot of towns nearer to Philly and NYC and pick up public transportation there.

Where in AC are you going to stay? All the boardwalk casino hotels bus terminals that I have seen all are very nice. Consider taking the bus if you happen to be staying on the boardwalk.

From Seaview, you can get the NJ Transit train to Philly at the Absecon Station (free parking) about 4-5 miles down shore rd. Or, you can drive about 35 miles west on Rt 30(no toll) to Lindenwold to pick up a PATCO train to center city They run every 10 minutes as opposed to the NJ Transit train which is hourly or so. A bus from a casino is the best way to get to NYC or a NJ transit express bus, both will leave from AC.
