Borgata host/comps question

This may be a silly question, but here goes. We stayed at the Borgata several weeks ago for a weekend (Red Card holders), and gambled a bunch, mostly 3-card poker. When we checked out, I did what I normally do when we go to Vegas, which is stop by the players club desk to see if they want to do anything for me. The guy behind the desk looked at me like I was insane (somewhat understandable since we are low-rollers). But then he left the desk for a few minutes, came back, and told me to see a host in the high limit area to see what she could do for me. We did--and she ended up comping our Saturday night, nice surprise. My question is...should I have just gone to see a host to begin with? Or is it preferable to go to the rewards desk first? Maybe it doesn't matter--just the guy at the rewards desk initially made me feel pretty stupid about it.

Although the "host desk" is located in the High Limit section, it's service is available to any and all cardholders and is probably the "first stop" choice. If there is no one physically at the desk, you can just pick up the house phone that's there and be connected to a customer service rep.

I wonder if the host merely applied comp points you earned to your bill. If that was the case, I think you could have asked that they do that when you checked in. You can also do that at check out if you haven't already arranged for the comps to be used. You have to go to the front desk, can't do the video check out or just drop the keys in the drop off box.

My comp points had already automatically been applied (and we didn't have many, like $40 or something), so I don't think it was that. This is helpful info, though, thanks very much. Since we are not big gamblers (by casino standards) this was a new experience for me!

QHM- I'm glad a host was able to do something for you and am sorry that the representative at our card center was not friendlier. Your request is not an unusual one, though representatives at the card center do not have authority to make offers that are not already loaded onto an account. However, they can ask for a casino host to assist. (There are a few hosts’ desk located behind the card center, so it sounds like he was looking for one of them.) In the future, I would start at the host desk in the high limit slot area and visit the card center only if a host desk in not present. P.S. I shared your comments with our card center manager so she is aware of your experience. Hopefully you enjoyed the rest of your visit!
