the OP describes this as a "resort fee" in post #2.

a resort fee has very specific connotations and implies a reduced price for a package of bundled services (free bottled water, daily newspaper, access to the fitness center, free wifi). this sounds more like an increase in the administrative charges that the taj tacks on above the state mandated room fees of $5 a night.

borgata has no "resort fee" that i'm aware of, and only charges the state mandated room fees totaling $5 per room per night, as does the atlantic club.

At least there's some transparency, absent with Priceline bookings. A $105 accepted bid elsewhere becomes $130 bottom line after the mysterious "taxes and fees" are added. $12 of the $25 is likely PL fee!

Another ...I totally agree.................................

"At least for that price they could throw in free wifi"

I totally agree. In this day & age, there is no reason why these properties should continue to charge for the internet. This is one time I will give praise to Revel for offering FREE internet.

Wel, kinda sorta. After adding an additional $7 on top of the $5 fee for rooms (comp or otherwise) they now advertise that this additional "resort fee" is for in-room wi-fi & access to the gym.

So - sorta like when they started as a totally smoke-free establishment & then changed to a limited smoking on the casino floor establishment; they started with free wife throughout the property, but now are charging a "resort fee" for using a service in your room that had been free up until recently.
