Are there any beautiful historic hotels or inns?

We are heading to AC this weekend to see Frank Sinatra Jr. and are looking for a hotel. We prefer to stay in historic hotels or Inns. Any suggestions?

Weeeeeell, The Claridge is both beautiful and historic. It was once called Skyscraper by the Sea. Many, many posters have much dislike for the rooms. I was in a suite earlier this month and the jets in the whirlpool didn't work. And there was two naugahyde chairs http://tinyurl.com/Sumatran-nauga

Do a search for 'claridge atlantic city' images. And the fountain is still there, still running, in the middle of the park. The fountain is dramatically lit at night and so it The Claridge.

The older hotels in the City have either been taken over by casinos or torn down. As mentioned Claridge is now part of Ballys as is the old Dennis Hotel. The original tower at Resorts used to be the Chalfonte Haddon Hall. All three of those old hotels have been completely remodeled at some point. Parts of the Tropicana used to be the Ambassador Hotel but is was torn down to the steel frame so no early architecture exisits.

I think the OP might be referring to the type of historic hotels or Inns available in Cape May.

I have both stumbled accross and sought out some of the Chalfonte Haddon Hall original architecture. You do have to look, but much is still there. The part of Chalfonte Haddon Hall where I stumbled upon amazing old~style craftsmanship in the woodwork was in a small showroom on FL2 or 3 after I'd watched a ribald puppetshow

As others have mentioned, there are historic wings to the casinos but none contain any of the historic elements you're most likely after.

You might consider the Carisbrooke Inn:

The Chelsea Pub & Inn might meet some of your historic preference.

And of course, The Irish Pub & Inn:

You might want to visit the famous Knife & Fork Inn, a Sinatra favorite, but I understand only special guests can enjoy private rooms there.

If you consider 1985 as historic, the majority of the Boardwalk casinos will serve as great examples of this era.
