Trip Report - Bally's Sept 5 & 6

We arrived at Bally's at 1PM on Thursday. The sign said $10 early check in fee is before 1PM, but since it was 1PM and there was a line, we went to eat first. We went to Walt's Primo's pizza, which was good. Then to the check in line which was shorter, and probably only took 10-15 minutes to check in, only to be told to return later for the room key after receiving a text from them. We asked if they could call, but they said that they only do texts. So we then grabbed our stuff from the car and went to the beach. The beach was awesome. The weather was absolutely wonderful (as on mostly cloudy, which is how I like it), the water was a bit cool, but that didn't stop me from going in. I like the section of beach in front of Bally's because I usually like what they are playing at the beach bar, which was open that Thursday. At around 4:15PM after not getting that text (neither of us normally text, so we have no idea if it was ever sent or if it was operator error on our part) I called the front desk who confirmed that our room was ready. We were were done with the beach for the day so we got the keys and went to the room. I had booked a Dennis Deluxe room, but it was one of the larger Dennis room, probably a Dennis Luxury, with two windows a view of the other wing of the Dennis Tower and Caesars. We liked this room a lot, it was very nice. Yes, I had to use the room key to activate the elevator. After getting our stuff into the room and showering, we ate at Sack O Subs. I am unimpressed with them. I am not saying that the subs were bad, but just very average. After that we went to the room for a while and had our warm up beers. Then we went to the Jim Beam/WWW/Mountain Bar. They had some country singer with guitar doing songs from mostly the 70's and 80's. I had no idea that you could turn a Clash song into country song, but they did it. At least it wasn't way too loud like it was last time I was there in May. The GF had the nachos from Wild About Wings, and said that they were really good nachos, and the portion was big enough to be a meal, probably with some left over unless you are really hungry.

On Friday we checked out, then did boardwalk stuff. I saw the feeding of the cats. I walked through a bunch of casinos, including Trump Plaza which I think I may have never been in before. Had some pretzels at the Philly Pretzel Factory near Bally's, and probably won't be going back there. The pretzels were really only OK (too salty for me, but it's easy enough to scrape off excess salt). It's the cheese dip that was terrible. It's more like orange colored dip that maybe supposed to taste like cheese. We will try Antie Anne's next time. Then we gambled. I turned my $5 into about $4.50, but the GF turned her $5 into $14.50, mostly because she got $11 on a spin and quit after that, making it her first ever casino win. After that, we walked around some more, and I shower her Caesar's lobby, which she had somehow missed on every previous visit. It's very nice and we had some gelato. We left after that.

One question I do have is how to use the parking voucher so I can visit Harrah's on my way out without having to pay for parking again. I do think that's possible so I can just pay when leaving Bally's and make a stop to check out the Marina District before driving home from there.

zz; it sounded like you & the GF had yourselves a good time. For as many times I've been to Bally's, I have never stopped at Sack O Subs. The only subs I am interested in is either The White House Sub Shop's "Special" or Tony Boloney's Steak Ole'.

Regarding parking just ask for a receipt when u pay. It is good to park at any other casino. It expires at 6am

Thanks for the trip report. This time of year is my favorite beach weather. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it.

Like was previously posted the receipt you get for paying for parking is what you would present to the garage cashier at Harrahs. It's good for one time until the end of that gambling day at 5:59 AM.

zzy, I did enjoy this report. >>we ate at Sack O Subs. I am unimpressed with them. I am not saying that the subs were bad, but just very average<< This immediately made me think of Village Sub ~ which was just average food, so they no longer exist, most of them were North and/or East of Balto, but I believe there was one in Pigtown. >>I had no idea that you could turn a Clash song into country song, but they did it<< I was chuckling out loud, and glad the room I was in was empty when I read this

So Qs: Were there lifeguards on that beach in front of Ballys? And didja happen to be able to donate any catfood to the boardwalk cats. And, oh yeah, thanks for the warning: >> It's the cheese dip that was terrible. It's more like orange colored dip that maybe supposed to taste like cheese<< I have never had their 'cheese' dip.... I suppose it is more of a cheese colored dip. I've only put mustard on them when I'm seeking to eat more than one pretzel. And now I know to never ever buy the cheese~like colored substance to go with my pretzel[s]

Yes there were lifeguards on duty. I did not feed the cats myself this time, they were being fed when I saw them. In so far as local sub places that are better, I had Capitan Harvey's in Dundalk in mind.

Village Sub was mediocre at best. And Captain Harveys is a place I am wanting to try now

I know the beaches open after Labor Day are limited. It's good to know Ballys is one of these lifeguarded open beaches. Welp, the last day AC has lifeguards on duty is Sunday, the day of the Miss America pageant.
