So my last trip to AC was in May, and I wrote a trip report. I did not write a trip report about my previous trip, but I will go ahead and tell you about the two funny incidents that occured. (I needed a couple months to recover before I could tell about the second incident!)
Background: I went with my friend (and coworker) E, her sister S, and S's daughter S. Jr. S.Jr. is only 17, so E and S were prepared to take turns hanging at the pool, going to outlets, etc with her. (It was actually really cute when we showed up in AC - S.Jr. was really impressed with the skyline and with our room at Caesars.)
Oh, btw this was the first time I had stayed at Caesars. E and S both had free room offers. I had one at Ballys, but I didn't decide that I was going until a couple days before the trip and the offer was sold out. So the four of us stayed in their two rooms at Caesars. We asked for and got the Centurion tower. The rooms were nice with a nice view of the city (and our checkin clerk was great), but I think I like the Ballys Tower rooms better - they are bigger.
ANYWAY - on to the two funny things:
1. Ride to AC
We live in VA, and approaching the Delaware Memorial Bridge on 95 traffic started getting pretty bad. Two of four lanes were shut down for construction. As we are creeping by in traffic, this Chevy Cavalier pulls up next to us. This was probably a late 90's, early 2000's car, looked fine, nothing strange about the outer appearance of the car........
But as we are sitting in traffic staring out the windows, I notice the INSIDE of the car. OMG It was FULL OF TRASH. I don't mean messy car, I mean FULL OF TRASH. There were old newspapers, fast food containers, and (most troubling) a Rice-a-Roni box in the back seat. And upon closer inspection the trash had then overflowed the back seat and was now also on the passenger seat up front. The only room in this car was where the driver was sitting.
Oh - and the driver did not look crazy or anything. Just looked like a normal, older guy - until you took in the fact that he was sitting in a car full of trash!!
We do have pictures, I will post one somewhere and reply here with the url. We made S.Jr. take the pictures. She was literally hanging out of the car taking them. You can actually see her in the reflection off his car in one of the pictures.
2. I do not know how to behave in elevators
I am very very scared of heights ever since I flipped my car when I was 16. (I escaped with a bruise on my shoulder and some scratches, but have been scared of heights ever since.)
At 4am I am in the elevator in Caesars going back down to the casino floor. And the elevator stops........and the doors DON'T OPEN. So I start to panic (thinking - we are up high and the ELEVATOR IS STUCK). Then I say "I think the elevator is stuck..." But everyone else in the elevator is apparently a bit less prone to panic - because they are like oh, no, it is fine.
After another 30 seconds or so, everyone else starts saying, "I think she is right, the elevator appears to be stuck......." We are literally looking for the emergency phone in the elevator when the elevator starts moving.
Apparently the elevator just hadn't seated right between floors or something (hindsight IS 20/20 you know), but to ME, who was SURE we were stuck in the elevator.....suddenly the elevator started moving again. And going down. So I was sure we were falling to our deaths. And I noticed the doors started opening........
I decided no way was I falling to my death in an elevator at a casino. So I DOVE (I was on the swim team for 10 years and we are talking full on dive as if I were about to swim a race) out of the elevator. I hit the floor on my stomach, skidded across their nicely polished floor, and hit the elevator door on the otherside.
The best part was that I KNEW, as soon as I had committed myself to this dive, that I was about to look really really stupid. But I was too far into the dive by then to stop.
Everyone did get off the elevator at that floor and take a different elevator to the casino. They claimed it was because that elevator "made them nervous", but I really think it was to see if I did anything else entertaining on the way there. LOL
