I had made reservations a few months ago in case my daughter Angie wanted to go for her birthday. Since she was celebrating with her friends the following week, and I told her I would treat her to dinner on Sunday she was happy to go. Also we would get a chance to shop at the Outlets which we enjoy doing.
On our way down to Atlantic City Angie told me she wasn't feeling that great - she had a scratchy throat and was sneezing. I told her that I can't believe you are getting sick again in Atlantic City - we were in AC for New Years Eve and on the 29th she had that awful stomach flu virus that was going around and was sick the whole time we were there.
We get to Showboat and get checked in - Bourbon Tower 16th floor - I was happy. We definitely prefer that Tower - I just like the rooms there and like the location of that Tower where it leaves you located in the casino. I go to the Earl Of Sandwich and get some soup for Angie and stop in the store to get some medicine. I went down to play for a few hours and then came up around midnight for the night.
On Saturday we ordered room service for breakfast - food was really good and came up quickly and hot. Angie was sill not feeling to good, but she wanted to get out for a little while. I said lets go to Rite Aid and get some better medicine and then we can go to Caesars and Bally's. We get the medicine and then go to Bally's. Since we were hungry we decided to go to Johnny Rockets. I hadn't eaten at the one in Bally's in years - we usually go to the one at Showboat - but I actually like this one better. Food was good and I had a spiked shake which was really good. Used the $5 off coupon from the AC weekly magazine too! After eating Angie was tired so we headed back to Showboat. She went to the room and I played for a few hours. Slots were pretty good this weekend.
On Sunday we decided to go to Harrah's for the Buffet for brunch. When we got there at about 12:30 they told us that it was only Breakfast. We decided to go ahead and eat there. Food was good and they did have other items besides breakfast food just no seafood. The buffet now closes at 2PM and reopens for dinner at 5PM. We played for an hour or so and then headed back to Showboat.
Angie went up to the room to rest and I played for about an hour and then came upstairs to relax for a bit. We had forgotten that Casa di Napoli was closed on Sunday so we decided we would go to the House of blues for dinner. We go down at about 8:45PM and they were closing. I was shocked - I could not believe that they were closing that early in the evening. It is not that there are a lot of options now that they closed the Mansion restaurant. We ended up ordering room service for dinner - food was good but it was not what we really wanted.
Monday morning we had breakfast at House of Blues. Food was really good - the Breakfast potatoes were fantastic. I do think they need to expand the Breakfast menu - a lot more was available at the Mansion. After Breakfast we played for about an hour, then checked out and headed home,
All in all not a bad weekend. Although we didn't get to the Outlets, Angie was able to rest and luckily she was off work until Friday so she was able to recover by the time she had to return to work. I almost forgot to mention - when we were checking in there is a sign that shows the hours for room service - from 6AM Friday to midnight Sunday room service is 24 hours. However after midnight Sunday to 6AM Friday room service is available from 6AM to 12 noon and then 5PM to Midnight. I can't believe that they are cutting back so much. After midnight the only thing open is the Earl of Sandwich.
Planning to come down the beginning of March to see Michael Bolton at Harrah's hopefully Angie won't be sick!!
