Revel room promo for poker players

Revel's poker room rep posted this on another forum -- I really don't know any details beyond what is below, but it seems like a great deal:

room comp 1 night Sun to Thurs.. 8 hrs play 1/2NL any night or 20 hours for the week

room comp 1 night Fri OR Sat.. 10 hours play 1/2NL on Fri. OR Sat. or 30 hours for the week. for 30 hours you can also get 2 weeknights instead of Fri. or Sat.

room comp 1 night Sun. to Thurs.. 6 hours play 2/5NL or above any night or 15hours for the week

room comp 1 night Fri OR Sat.. 8hrs play 2/5NL or above on Fri. OR Sat. or 25 hours for the week. for 25 hours you can get 2 weeknights instaed of Fri. OR Sat.

For a poker player in need of a room, this promo is not bad at all.

It appears that frankie is a Revel employee.

In one post he is quoted as saying:

"As stated earlier, smoking options are being revisited! "

This room promo should generate some interest in Revel Poker.

frank foti is the "executive director of poker" for the revel. i believe he was formerly with dover downs, a smoke-free casino. nice enough guy, but he's an expert on poker, not casino management.

it's odd that he seems to have taken social media on all by himself, while the company at large has let it fall by the wayside. (what ever happened to jaysonrevel or revelrep here on TA?) i couldn't tell you whether he has the blessing of revel management in this endeavor or whether he is authorized to speak to the public at large or speak on topics not directly related to poker.

it's also odd that he would answer queries about the smoking policy since poker rooms are traditionally completely non-smoking, even in casinos which allow smoking. and if the revel should relax its non-smoking policy, it would be most unusual for them to allow smoking in the poker room.

Nice to see them trying to generate interest in the poker room. As I mentioned in my revel post, 3 open tables on a saturday night was really sad to see. By comparison I was just in Tucson at a random casino this week and there were 13 tables open on a Saturday afternoon!

by comparison, it should be noted that there are only 3 tribal casinos in the greater tucson area - not really located anywhere near each other - and that there are 12 casinos in atlantic city within a few hundred feet or a few miles of each other.

Ok - I take it back. 3 poker tables open on a saturday night is exactly what Revel was projecting and had in mind when they opened.

Thanks for linking to the 2+2 forum, C-SRT8. I would have done it myself, but I wasn't sure if linking to other boards was allowed. Frankie has posted in that forum quite a bit, which is nice. The Borgata's poker director actively participates there, and it's the most popular poker forum, so it's a good thing that Revel's poker room director participates as well.

By the way, I don't really think he's trying to give insider information about the smoking policy. All he says is "If you have been following the paper closely you will have noticed that smoking is being revisited," so he's just reiterating information that is publicly available. And the comment he was responding to was a poker player who wanted to be able to smoke a cigar somewhere indoors, not a player who was saying that smoking should be allowed in a poker room, since (as UK noted) casino poker rooms never allow smoking.

>>3 poker tables open on a saturday night is exactly what Revel was projecting and had in mind when they opened.<<

i'm sure it wasn't.

but if you want to "compare" the revel, shouldn't you compare it to another casino that does about the same business as the revel in atlantic city, rather than a native american casino 2500 miles away with little competition? or any casino in atlantic city for that matter... compare it to the borgata, for goodness sake, which has a booming poker business almost every day. that would be a fair comparison.

in any case, i assure you not every poker room in atlantic city is hopping on a saturday in january. i've walked by many of them and seen only a few tables occupied, although i couldn't tell you how many were "open."
