Bus Service NYC ----> Atlantic City, Post Sandy

i wasn't planning on going to AC, but I was walking through port authority today running some errands, so i decided to see if bus service to AC has resumed from new york. as of today, neither greyhound nor academy has resumed bus service to AC.

academy's facebook page says limited NYC departures (from port authority only) will begin on monday, 11/5... with departures scheduled every two hours.

i was unable to find any info on greyhound's website. maybe they're late posting the info (after all, their busses usually don't run on time, either).

I was on Megabus's website and in the aftermath of Sandy, they are not selling tickets to AC on behalf of Academy right now.

FYI - Because I'd already purchased tickets on Academy (via Megabus) for Thanksgiving week, I called today and spoke with a representative at Academy Bus about the suspended service - and asked if he expected the casino routes to resume anytime soon. He said that they'd hoped to re-start casino buses this weekend, but that the "current" storm might delay them a bit longer. He also said he expected that full service should be back by Thanksgiving week, but to keep checking the website for any change in information.

For those who often use/prefer Academy Bus' casino service - this is the message now appearing on their website:

ONLINE TICKETS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME, BUT WE ARE OPERATING A LIMITED SCHEDULE

and here's the link to the "limited schedule" that has today's date:

(I've pasted it as a "tiny URL" 'cuz the original 'paste' didn't go through as an active link)

i think you may have left the "h" off "http" when making your tiny URL. try this:

academybus.com/getattachment/Casinos/Schedul…

i actually stopped by academy at port authority today to see if they were up and running yet with a full schedule. they were still on the "departures every two hours" schedule: 8, 10, 12, 2, 4, 6, 8.

i was told they would be on that schedule for the foreseeable future. so thanks for the link. (i'm assuming the website is accurate and they're switching to this schedule tomorrow, even though the people working there today were unaware.)

UK, thanks for straightening out the link problem. Just wasn't my night for

"cut-and-paste".

nemartin, did the person at Academy indicate any potential problem with using a ticket purchased through megabus? I have a ticket for next week.

i passed through port authority again earlier today and academy reps there insist they're sticking with the every two hour schedule! and they have a temporary sign displaying that schedule. they say the new online schedule is wrong and passengers should call before departing AC to find out the current return schedule... or ask at the casino's bus depot.

as for megabus vouchers, there doesn't seem to be any problem. i saw several redeemed vouchers in the sales office.if your scheduled departure is canceled, however, they would probably put you on the bus just before or after your scheduled departure time.

emmas - I didn't discuss use of Megabus-purchased tickets with the person at Academy, but I think UK provided enough of an answer. Otherwise, you'll have to call yourself.

UK - thanks for clarifying about the current "schedule" info. I'm not heading down 'til the 20th - but will be sure to check on return buses ahead of time.
