Thanksgiving in AC

I know Thanksgiving is generally for family gatherings but because of a recent death in our small family, we're thinking of escaping this year to AC since we can get a room there that night too. Has anyone been there on Thanksgiving? Is it deserted? Do they have special Thanksgiving foods at the buffets? Any info is appreciated.

I am sure all the buffets will have turkey and stuffing etc. They usually have this available .Be aware that Harrah's Marina and Wild West don't allow children . Plaza . Sands,Showboat,Hilton,Resorts, are kid friendly .

Just an fyi, we live close to the AC casinos and usually go to a couple to play slots every Thanksgiving afternoon to walk off our meal. We've been doing this since 2000 when our youngest turned 21 and we could all go together. They are unbelievably crowded, almost as bad as New Years Eve. According to the the employees we've spoken to through the years, it's the same every year. Quiet till about noon, but by 2pm is usually one of the busiest days of their year. If you're looking for a busy time to go, Thanksgiving would be it.

southerntransplant--you must be right because I can't even get a room with my comps for that night...why bother sending us the mailings to entice us when we can't get one, right? guess we'll be staying in NY.

I was able to get a comp room Thursday night, Thanksgiving, at Showboat. I think you have to book earlier to get them - I did this last month.

wanderlust... Shea77 is right; you can get Thanksgiving night, but you have to reserve a room as soon as you receive the the room mailer. I actually booked my Wed./Thurs. night rooms at Resorts before the mailer reached my house. I called a couple of days before I actually received it, just "to see if I had any comps coming". LOL I figured the worst that the people in Marketing Services can say is "no", so...

I"ll bet good money that SouthernTranslant is right about the post-Thanksgiving meal business booming. Guess we'll all see, right? <grin>

Hi

I went last year for t-giving and I was AMAZED by the number of people there-I was in the Trop by about 3 p.m. I have comp rooms at Showboat Weds nite & Borgata Thurs & Friday. Am looking forward to it! See you there! I had such a good time last year I am going back.

We usually go Thanksgiving week -- Mon, Tues

and Wed are pretty dead -- which is good -- small lines at buffets and can get on whatever machines you like. Thanksgiving picks up after dinner (as people have said)

I call for my comp room as soon as the flyer comes out (seems a bit tighter this year, truly)...Enjoy...

I usually call ahead and see what kind of dinners they have -- Trump Marina (nice sit-down restaurant) had a thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings a few years ago (not much publicity, but I kept trying. It was prix fixe and good -- turkey, dressing and all the trimmings and chocolate truffles to take home after your dessert..yum!
