Atlantic City Vacation

I am in the UK and no NOTHING about Atlantic City! I have booked to stay in Resorts from 20th to 25th October and am praying the whole thing goes smoothly. So i'm hoping someone who stays regularly or recently in Resorts and/or Atlantic City can give me some tips on where to go and what to do. This is a surprise trip for my friend's birthday so i wanna make it really special. Upgrades always welcome!

Any tips for an outsider (i.e. English people) getting comped at Resorts?! I am such an amateur!

Ok next question...How do i make sure that i get in a reputable taxi cab at the airport without them seeing "tourist" on my forehead and trying to rip me off. I am flying into Atlantci City International Airport and need to get to Resorts hotel. How much should it realistically cost me?

If you play at resorts make sure you have an "Uptown Card" ( Free when you sign up ). They will give you back up to $250 USD of your loses back - BUT you have to pick them up in person a month or two later .

On the last day of your trip check your balance in a card reader . You may get some cash-back ( $5 ? $50 ? ) and have some comp dollars ( enough for a drink or Lunch ? )

Comp dollars are credited to the card reader faster at the Taj Casino next door .

Charge everything to your room at Resorts . If you have played a decent amount at the casino you can ask when you check out and see the final bill : " Gee , we enjoyed playing here and are looking forward to coming back soon ! ... Can you comp us a bit on our bill ? " ( You could even casually mention you can't get back in time for your refund on your losses .) They will usually knock off some of the drinks or a meal .

The cabs at AC Airport are fine . There is a standard rate to AC proper ( resorts ) I think it is $22 ( It is marked on the side of all cabs . If it isn't there -take a different cab. I would tip at least $5 , maybe $10 if you have tons of luggage .It will take you about 20 minutes to Resorts .

You probably won't get completely comped at Resorts as a first time visitor. To maximize what you will get, sign up for a slot players card as soon as you get there. Make sure you use it every time you play. Normally I would recommend that you and your friend get seperate cards, but I am guessing that you won't be back to AC for years and want to maximize what you can get on this one trip (and not really looking for future offers). When you sign up for the players card ask for two cards. If they ask why tell them you like to play two machines at one time. Have your friend play on the 2nd card.

When you get there ask to speak to a slot host. Tell them you came all the way from the UK, first trip, love it here, so excited, etc etc and they may give you a free meal or something as a goodwill gesture.

As for the taxi from the airport, I don't know what it should cost, but I would send an email to Resorts. They may offer a free shuttle from the airport.

I'm sure you and your friend will have a good time. I don't know about drag shows, but there is a Legends in Concert show at Ballys that my friends liked.

I would find and print out a map of Atlantic City that shows where all the casinos are located and bring it with me. I go several times a year and still bring one. It really helps you plan where you want to go for the day (and get there without incident!).
