dinner

planning a birthday party for our son (21). any suggestions for a large family group for dinner. Carmines wants a contract for over 15 persons. Our group is 18. They want to add 3% administrative "tax" on the total bill. 3% luxury "tax" on alcohol. Our base of operations is the tropicana. So help me out, in the trop or very close to it.

The Luxury Tax is a real thingy in AC nj.gov/treasury/taxation/acluxury_over.shtml not just a space on the Monopoly board https:/…il_570xN.841307333_h921.jpg While it's not itemized everywhere you buy & drink alcohol onsite in AC, it does have to be paid. The only other place I recall it being itemized was Mortons. And is The Palm within the price range? As it's right in Trop and they can accommodate a party that size. Now this is a little bit of a walk, but it's cussingly fabulous! Knife&Fork [Mmmm, Lobster Thermidor!] Okie dokie, I just looked it up http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=7162597

Close it's over ½ a mile. They do have free valet parking. And they can accommodate 18. http://www.knifeandforkinn.com/ The place has been around since 1912 and is really a neat building inside&out, + their cussingly fabulous food

Now, did Carmines explain the administrative tax?

I tried to edit, but it's too late. That >>Close it's over ½ a mile<< The 'Close' was sposedta be part of the gmaps link. And it got separated and makes the sentence make less sense. So. Omit: 'Close'

What about Tony’s Baltimore Bar & Grill.

I agree Knife & Fork would be a great experience but probably not less expensive than Carmines.

If expense is a concern, I also agree Tony's would be a great choice—not an extensive menu but also "Italian." And as close to Trop as it gets, and maybe also great memories if the group is up to that

Have a great Celebration.

For local "Italian" Angelo's is good:

And, if you can get in there's also the famous Vola's (BYOB), also near the Trop!

I've been to a few memorable celebrations at Harrah's buffet if you're willing to take a jitney or other transport to there. They can easily accommodate your group and have a complete Italian selection station, and nice seafood choices with snow crab legs everyday if that's of any interest?

What is your budget? Vola's is great, if you can get a restaurant. I did a party of 10 there but made reservations about 6 weeks in advance and we had a 9:00pm seating.

The reason for the contract at Carmine's is that they would be reserving a large area for your group and they want to ensure they are not stiffed. I would question what exactly the administration fee is, I had a birthday party there with 16 people and do not recall that being charged.

I don't see a problem with the contract -after all 18 people is a large party... I would just make sure there is a reasonable cancellation clause in the contract ....just incase.

PF Changs is in the Trop and it can also accommodate 18 people..
