Late June in Medellin- good time to go and visit?!

Can someone please tell me whether or not Medellin is a happening and fun place to visit during the end of June for 2 American "Gringos" in their late 20's? We are looking to both experience a great nightlife with excellent food, bars/clubs to visit and meet beautiful Paisas, as well as emerge ourselves in the rich culture of Medellin and the surroudning areas... I'v eheard how amazing it is there in December/january, and wante dot make sure it is jsut as lively and worth going to in June before we commit to possibly buying our airplane tickets today or tomorrow

Any honest advice would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Medellin - tons of nightlife, lots of bars and clubs, the food scene is average,

Weather is great in June, highs in the mid 80's lows in the mid 60's.

Check out Sabaneta on Saturday night - lots of bars and clubs more of a country feel to it, much less expensive than parque lleras clubs.

Very easy to get around Medellin with busses, Metro and taxis, take the bus from MDE into the city to save $$, very easy.

Meeting Paisas - I hope you speak some Sapnish becuase most of the locals don't speak any english.

Thanks, would 7 days be enough in Medellin by myself with about 1,500,000 COP?

That is a little under $750 - for 7 days it would be enough as long as you don't blow it on a hotel room, plenty of hotels under $50.

To get around - the Metro and city busses are about 75 cents each way, plenty of taxis but more $$.

Food is cheap if you eat the whatt the locals eat - don't order a pizza, stay out of Parque LLeras clubs and restaurants - gringo pricing.

(stay out of Faze2 nightclub also!)

Hola

June is a good time BUT if you can wait till late July then you will be during "La feria de las Flores", The Flower Festival which is the biggest carnival in Medellin. That would be the perfect time to go! It runs from 31 July to 8 August. There are tons of shows and concerts, free parades and paid ones. You'll get to see in one week the whole paisa culture in one place. I would suggest you to stay in a cheap hostel like palm tree or kiwi house and try to get to the Silleteros Parade which is the most important of the festival.
