Just returened yesterday and you will have no problem getting a visa. Just remember your Chinese currency. We were there on Thursday, no queue. MTR very efficient, clean and cheap but you do have to know the name of the hotel in Chinese if you are taking public transport. We found the trip stressful as you can be within the area and the people do not know their hotels in the area. A policeman also did not know. One local gave us a tip afterwards, ask the hotel which landmark you should ask which the public would know that is close to the hotel eg the Sun shopping complex or sthg like that. There are many KFCs, MacDonalds, etc so no use for that. Good luck.
That is good to know, Hotspice, as frequently it hase been reported that VoA is not available at Shekou. Although I regularly take the ferry from Shekou, I am always on the domestic side so have no chance to even look for signs pointing to a visa office. Was it easy to find when you disembarked?
The visa office is on the left as you face the immigration gates. It is so small a place, so you can't get lost! 3/4 checkpoints, one for foreigners but they didn't worry much where you queue. Much smaller than Gold coast airport, so don't worry about it at all. Where are you staying?
