Arica to La Paz

Hola!

We will be travelling from Arica to La Paz later this week - preferably on an early morning bus. We will be coming from San Pedro de Atacama overnight and want to transfer the same morning. Has anyone done this trip recently that can recommend a bus company or advise website/ office details for booking seats??

An alternative option could be taking a tour from Arica through Parque Nacional Lauca and Sajama then continuing on to La Paz, but we're not sure this is at all a possibility - all tours seem to start and finish in Arica. Has anyone done this or know if this is another possibility?

Thanks in advance for any information you can offer.

You can take an Arica La Paz bus and get off after the border, either at the Tambo Quemado village or at the road junction, to go to Sajama and visit the Sajama NP. There are daily early morning minibusses at Sajama to continue to Patacamaya and then La Paz.

All the tours to the Salar de Uyuni from San Pedro will let you leave the tour in Bolivia. You will then be able to make your own way to Uyuni itself from where there are overnight trains several days a week to just north of La Paz and more frequent direct buses.
