beach etiquette

although fairly familiar with the whole ramadan issue, can someone please let me know the rules are regarding drinking/eating/smoking at the hotel beaches during the day?

Would we be required to do these activities inside the hotel?

I'm an obese, alcoholic chain-smoker and we're staying at the JBH.

Let's be clear, non-Muslims are not asked to fast, just to refrain from eating and drinking in public during Ramadan. Public means outside. Not in your house, hotel, etc. I don't think it's wrong to have to abide by that when I live in a Muslim country. I've been here for seven years and don't find it that difficult. Even in our office, we still eat and drink (and generally, very happily, work shorter hours) so that all works in our favour, making up for the inconvenience.
