We stayed at the Marhaba Royal Salem, which was great (review done!)
The weather varied from early 20s right up to 30 degrees, so we have come back with a nice healthy glow, but take something long sleeved for the evenings. There were a couple of epic thunder storms while we were there, so make sure you can be flexible and have a back up plan if you aren't able to spend all day lounging by the pool!
We were disappointed that for some reason the Noddy Train wasn't running. We did see it once, but each time we asked someone if it was running then we got a different answer ranging from 1hr to 1.5hr wait, to "Ben Ali cancelled them all, they don't run anymore"!!
Escargot was closed for renovations, we had a lovely meal the last time we visited Sousse, so were disappointed that it wasn't open.
When we visited last September, we had such a great time we decided to take the kids there for the Easter hols. However we noticed quite a difference in the way people treated us when it came to haggling etc, we did feel that they tried it on a bit more (maybe the beginning of the season they are trying to earn as much as they can? or maybe because we had the kids with us who weren't great at haggling! lol)
We also were conned by a few of the beach sellers, one tried to sell us a handful of cactus fruit for 25D! and then gave us foreign coins as change (our fault for not checking).
Another pretended to put the change for some bottles of Coke in my bag, he must have used a sleight of hand trick as the money wasn't there after he left us.
I guess there's nothing malicious in their behaviour, but it did feel totally different to our previous visit.
We will definitely be going back to Tunisia very soon, but we may try a different location to Sousse for a bit of a change.
