Sorry for possibly dumb questions, I am knocking up an impromtu trip to Croatia, arriving at Split airport on September 4th, grabbing a car and trying to do some island-to-island hopping towards Dubrovnik and back (or vice versa) with stops on the way.
The first question is - do I have to book ferries in advance or am I guaranteed to get a place for my car and the two of us if I simply drive into the port just before the scheduled ferry departure?
Second - is it necessary to book accoms right now or do we have a good chance of finding nice places to stay as we go? We prefer small quiet boutique hotels/b&b's in historic buildings in old towns/villages near beaches to huge contemporary hotels. It does not have to be cheap but it'd better not be insanely expensive either. I will be grateful for specific accom suggestions on the route from Split/Trogir via Brac, Hvar, Korcula to Dubrovnik.
