Budapest to Split

We're coming from Budapest before spending 4 nights in Split. Anyone have advice on the best way to travel? We'd like to see Plitvice park but understand that could be a day trip from Split. Were flying out of Split to London at 8:40pm the last day.

Car Rental one way?

Train?

Bus

Air?

Thoughts?

Everyone says the train is very slow but maybe that's just the last leg from Zagreb.
