Surfing near Antigua

Hello, does anyone know of a tour or surf lessons near Antigua? I am going to volunteer there for 2 weeks in March and I am looking for surfing lessons on the weekend.

Thanks!

There is an area in guatemala called "El Paredon" near Sipacate that you can check out on Youtube. It's about two to three hours changing buses from Antigua. But I've also read of shuttles from Antigua to the white sand beaches in El Salvador. The beaches on the pacific side in guatemala are black sand due to the high content of iron. And that's also why they're hot like hell when the sun is shining.

Most surfers head for El Salvador. Roughly a 3-4 hour drive from Antigua depending on exactly where you go.

I'm not a surfer, but enjoy the little surf town of El Tunco, El Salvador. They've also go a micro-brewery there (that's why I go!).

There is a surf shop in Antigua that offers a package deal with transportation, board rental, lessons and overnight lodging to both Guatemala and El Salvador beaches. It's just a half block from Parque Central https://www.aroundantigua.com/todo/global-su…

They also offer day trips to the Guatemala beaches on certain days of the week.

Are you sure you want to go surfing in Antigua, Guatemala, or Antigua in the Carribean?

The surf shop in Anitgua brought surfers for a day trip to El Paredon when we were there in December. There is the Surf Camp and The Surf House. 2 very different places. The Surf Camp has been there longer. I guess the good folks at the Surf House could not come up with a name on their own...

We stayed at the Camp and had a great time. It is rustic and very affordable. http://www.surf-guatemala.com

yes that sand is hot!
