To rent a Car or not to Rent a car.....

We are coming to Annapolis the first week of June. We have never been to the East Coast.

We have a rental car reserved but are not sure if we will need one or if it is worth it to have one.

We are staying at the Double Tree for the first half of the trip. We will be going to tour the Naval Academy the first part of the trip, possible two times. We also plan to go see the sights in DC. We plan to visit the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial for sure as well as Arlington National Cemetary for sure and, of course, any others we run into in route.

I have heard driving and parking is horrific in both Annapolis and DC. We have no idea how to get around otherwise. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Since you're staying in Annapolis there really isn't much in the way of viable public transportation to visit Washington, DC.

Traffic is no picnic, but renting a car is your best option. Or consider moving to a hotel in or near Washington for touring those areas.

I would not really describe Annapolis traffic or parking as "horrific". It can be busy, but it's not comporable to Washingon.
