2-room suites in Augusta area?

I am considering spending part of our summer vacation next year in the Augusta area. I'd like to find a hotel with 2-room suites available. Any suggestions?

It appears that the Senator Inn has suites:

The Senator I believe also has "townhouse" units that have private outside entrances that may be of interest to you.

The Quality Inn/Maine Evergreen also has suites.

Both of these are easy access to I-95/Turnpike and relatively easy access to other primary roads you'll use for daytrips, etc.

yankeedave...

I suggested an itinerary on your other post, and in it I suggest that you look into Brunswick as your stopover spot. The Fairfield inn has two room suites. I think this location is better for some of the things you want to see and do.

hope this helps.

Well, Yankeedave, Augusta tends to get a "bad rap" from some people who don't live here, but, though I am sure there are those who cannot imagine just WHY, some of us actually like it here. So, if you want to stay in the Augusta area, don't be swayed by some posters who might tell you that it isn't where you want to be.

The Senator is going to cost you some money, but it does have suites. However, let me make a suggestion. Just outside of Augusta, in East Winthrop, is a little motel called the Lakeside Motel and Cabins. It is on a really nice body of water. This is not a fancy place, so if you want fancy, stop reading right now. It is more like the old time Maine vacation destinations. It has two bedroom cabins and motel rooms. It is very reasonable. There is a nice place for kids to swim. There is a marina, and I think they rent boats. Check out the website under the establishment's name and see what you think.

Thanks Nativemainer,

I don't want to start a civil war here, I'm sure we'll see Augusta one way or another. I have emailed Lakeside and I'll see what they have.

I can recommend the two-bedroom cottages at Bear Spring Camps in Belgrade, about a 20 min drive to the heart of Augusta. Alden Camps in Oakland is great too, with a really great dining room.

I second the previous poster's recommendation that you look into the Belgrade Lakes region. Not to be too harsh toward Augusta, but these lakes are really beautiful and you will be right on a lake rather than a parking lot. The places the previous poster suggested are great. There's also the Village Inn and Wing's Hill Inn right in Belgrade Lakes Village and other lakeside camps like Taconnet. Here's the website for the region; it will show you all your options:

Ok, I WILL confess that while I live in Augusta, I DO spend a large part of my summer on Great Pond in Belgrade Lakes. It IS a beautiful area. There are many individual camps that are rented by owners. Check out Lakeside Rentals or Day's Real Estate for options.
